Local Backup Files inaccessible

I have a need to restore certain files on a local Mozy backup that was created with a previous computer. Another post here said that such files are open to regular transfer from my external drive to the new computer. However, when I try that, I am told that I do not have permission to copy, nor even to read the files. How do I go about acquiring permission to do that?

Re: Local Backup Files inaccessible

That actually isn't a Mozy problem specifically, as Mozy just stores the files and doesn't change permissions. Somehow your files are locked on that drive still though. In this case try googling 'Adding Read/Write permissions to a file/folder'. Then follow those steps for the files on that drive.

Re: Local Backup Files inaccessible

As Benjamin mentioned in his last post, this is not a specific Mozy issue, but here is a link to "answers.microsoft.com" with some information about permissions and how to again permission to files and folders.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks. That link did lead me to the three step solution that was needed before I could get the control I needed.  Appreciate the help.
