Exactly right. Uninstall Mozy from the old computer, and download and install it on the new computer. When you put in your account information, Mozy will ask you if you want to replace your old machine. Easy as that!

You can also add another computer to your MozyHome subscription, and then choose the "Add " computer option when you install the cleint on the second computer.

In the tutorial about transfer mozy to a new computer, it does not say to uninstall from the old computer first.
I am trying just to download mozy onto the new computer but it will not install. Is that because I did not uninstall from the other? If so, you should explain that on the explanations about how to transfer!

ScreamtoMe, I don't mean to scream but it is very frustrating trying to get through the maze of half-complete instructions to find out how to do this transfer. I uninstalled from the old machine, and still will not work on new machine. I found a place where it says you have to send a lot of info to support. okay will try that. Or maybe I need to reboot the new machine? anyway, should not be taking half my morning to do all this.
Am working my way through the instructions on Account Error 5.
will get back when stuck again.

I had no trouble installing a fresh download of Mozy on the new computer. I wanted to leave Mozy on the old computer in case I wanted to do any restores, which is supposed to be possible for 30 days after the switch to another computer.
After the 3 failed attempts yesterday (first day of install on new system), today it is beginning to process and upload files.

thanks, jcordes, maybe it just takes some days to allow the new computer to attempt?
I just wish they would give a better set of instructions and explain more. I am trying to email support with the information about my operating system that Account Error 5 requests....... will keep posting till I get success.

I got wiped out by a Virus 2010 on old computer so got a new one to replace. BUT-the backed up data may contain the virus. So asked for a backed up version of my data that was a couple of months old. Did what I think I was supposed to do and waiting for my data to be restored--been 8 hours. How long does it take to restore my data to the new machine? And how will I be informed?

After following these steps I'm still getting an AccountError5 error.
Looking at my account, I have no registered computer and I did select the replace option.
What is the next step?
Thanks in advance for any help.
