I have tried everything mentioned here, no good. I then uninstalled and tried again. Now I can not even login, hangs there. Then I tried unistalling and installing past version and it logged me in but it is also hanging and just saying communicating with server. I think it is time to cancel this service, buy a external drive and put it in a fire safe. Would be quicker and less of a headache. Adios.

Since mozy started when I used Cody's reset step I have not done this. I received this from mozy support.:
This message is to inform you that the following comments have been added to your case 00006729 regarding Mozy gets stuck on Logging in...page.:
Please wait for an hour so that Mozy logs in on the client. If it is still not logging in, please reconfigure, restart the computer, check the data for backup with Mozy and then start the backup.
Follow the steps below to reconfigure:
1. Click "Start".
2. Type in "regedit" in the search box.
3. Expand My computer -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> mozy -> state , on the right side, find for "configured".
4. Right click on "configured", click "Modify".
5. Change the value data to "0" ( Zero ).
6. Click on "ok".
7. Restart the computer.
FIRST, wait an hour or so? You have got to be kidding. Second, got up this morning and mozy has backed a whopping 371.5mb before coming to a grinding hault and quitting.
Third, anyone who has any experience with backups KNOWS there is no better backup than a 100% complete backup, such as a mirrored image of a drive. However, mozy
has decided for me that many directiories and files (such as program file directories) do NOT have to be backed up becuase the user will re-install those programs. Incredible!!
I have had to use my local external drive backups for restores from time to time and when I do a restore, it is a COMPLETE restore and I am up and running. I don't have to hunt
around to see what did or did not get restored, nor do I spend any time re-installing programs. There is nothing more important than a complete backup.
This is program is a disaster waiting to happen so newbies beware, you are not as safe using this program as you are being lead to believe.
I will cancel my account and remove this garbage from my system.

@Cuda: with respect, Mozy allows you complete control over what files are backed up, unlike some other well-known online backup services I could name... well, OK, C*rb*nite. ![]()
If you want to backup paths that aren't recommended (as I also do), select Show All Protected Operating System Files in the Advanced tab of Options in the Settings window. You might also want to select Show Advanced Backup Set Features.

Cuda,
Mozy isn't meant to be a system state backup. This is a Data backup. There's a difference. Most online backup solutions are just a Data backup and not a system state backup. Online backups are meant for disaster recovery. If your house burns down, or your computer is stolen, you're local sys state backup won't do any good. So you buy a new computer and then restore your data from your online backup. If you're just reformatting your computer or something, then a local system state backup is best for that. There are different solutions for different situations.

Yeah, that's right in theory. In practice, however, some apps store useful data in the "wrong" places -- for example, \Program Files\, the root of the user home, or AppData\Local\
Examples: Palm Desktop and VirtualBox.

Ya, there's always those fun programs that do that. That's why show protected OS files is there. ![]()

I had this problem and opened a ticket (00004461). After reading of the success others had with your suggestion and doing some research on cmd.exe, netsh and winsock, I gave it a try. "netsh winsock reset" did the trick. I closed the ticket with a note to support and attached before and after "netsh winsock show catalog" txt files. Thanks so much. 2.0 does seem to run much faster. I really like the support portal and community interfaces. Mozy is a great concept which I'm confident will only get better.
Here are the "netsh winsock show catalog" before and after files for your convenience. I hope you don't still need them.

Thank you very much. I've narrowed it down and reproduced the problem with bmnet.dll, a network optimization product written by ByteMobile, and distributed by other vendors. In my case, I was able to reproduce by installing Vodafone Mobile Connect. I understand that it is also distributed with other cellular network adapters, and who knows what else.

Cody -- I sometimes use an air card by Sierra Wireless (Compass 597 EVDO Modem #7) over a Sprint network. If my next use results in a problem with Mozy, I'll just "netsh winsock reset". Thanks for the follow up.
