I’m using MozyHome Free 2.12.0.125, with the 2Gb limit, on my Win 7 PC. Settings currently shows me using 1.6Gb, “79.0% of quota used”. But every time Mozy runs a backup, it insists on backing up a file called “archive.pst” (five year’s worth of old Outlook emails), which is 544Mb. This of course blows my 2Gb limit and produces a backup failure. But in Settings/File System, I do not have this file checked, and in Settings/Backup Sets, I do not have any email set checked. As this file is an archive, and never changes, I have it backed up off-site on a different medium, so don’t need or want Mozy to back it up. Mozy is correctly backing up “outlook.pst”, which is my current email file, because I’ve told it to.
Why is Mozy insisting on backing up archive.pst when I don’t want it to?
I’ve checked that I haven’t inadvertently managed to get another copy of this file hidden away somewhere on my hard disk that Mozy has spotted.
I’ve tried renaming the file – doesn’t work: Mozy just backs up the file under its new name.
I’ve tried deleting the file, doing a backup (success), then restoring the file from the Recycle Bin, ensuring that it isn’t checked in Settings/File System, and trying another manual backup – failure: even when NOT checked, Mozy still attempts to back it up.
Is anybody else seeing this apparently faulty Mozy behaviour? Or am I doing something wrong?
Regards
John
