I upgraded to 188.8.131.52 and it is working now to finish the initial ONLINE backup.
Then, I turned on the Local Backup option and pointed it to an external USB drive (J:\) that is NOT shared.
Mozy immediately created the J:\mozyLocalBackup\<my machine> folder - BUT - after several hours there are STILL not files in the "mozyLocalBackup" folder.
What is the deal - how long does it take before a local backup occurs?

I had a similar issue before rebuilding my system (got a new SSD drive . Even though the regular backup seemed to finish, the local one would never run. Now that I have reinstalled everything, it works fine and going into the settings screen doesn't take 10 minutes anymore either.
The local backup takes place AFTER the online backup completes and fills the directory tree with all of the files you selected for backup.
If you are having connection issues (see ConnectionError4 topic), the local backup will probably not even start.
Many thanks to you and Frostus ...
Maybe I will try to uninstall and re-install..
BUT - first I have opened a ticked with Mozy support and will see what they suggest.
I'm having the same issue and have also placed a ticket.
Seems like maybe there was an issue with the version or the install?
I'll give it a day or two for tech support to reply and if that doesn't work will try the reinstall method.
