I have been a MozyHome user for several years. I just recently replaced my Windows desktop with a new MacBook Pro. To get MozyHome to work on my Mac, I deleted my Windows computer, installed MozyHome client on my Mac and configured it to back up several directories in the file system (total of 42.44 GB of files). But, when I try to start a manual backup, I get an error stating that MozyHome is not configured. When I open the MozyHome preferences, the window states that the client is not configured.
What else do I need to do to configure the client?
Solved! Go to Solution.

Wow, your story sounds exactly like mine. Switched from PC to Mac, downloaded mozyhome, and now it continues to say it is not configured.
I have configured it over again several times, re-installed mozy to see if that helped, but still no joy.
Can someone please help? I feel pretty vulnerable with my PC backup deleted (though saved in external hard drive) and no way to back up my Mac on mozy.

I think it goes without saying that you should both open support cases...

I was hoping that if this is a pervasive issue and affects multiple people, a solution would be posted here for everyone. Wouldn't that be a lot more efficient than handling each problem separately? Then new users could find the solution right away rather than opening their own case in the future as well.

Try to uninstall the Client without keeping the logs. This is an option during the uninstall process. Re-install the latest version of the Client (2.0.0) and try again. If you still get the same message about Mozy not configured, open a case with Mozy Support as mentioned in previous post.

Opened a case with Mozy regarding this issue, as I have experienced exactly the same issues as described previously.
The strangest thing to me is the "The Cake Is A Lie" box on the "not configured" window. Sounds a lot like something that was placed while the app was under development and was never changed for the release - which is disheartening that something like this is ever released publicly.
Anyway, below is the important portion of my actual case text....
When I open the MozyHome preferences, the window states that the client is not configured. Additionally, the choices on the error message box are "The Cake Is A Lie" and "Fix It" - neither work to fix the issue.
So now I have a new Mac I can't back up to Mozy after multiple tries, and a deleted Windows computer that doesn't back up to Mozy anymore either.
Have seen several other users reporting this in the forums, and believe it to obviously be a very serious issue. Please advise when and how to resolve.

I had the exact same problem, after a few support converastions I got the following solution, which seems to have worked (backup in progress.) Note: I am running a macbook pro 13", latest model (mid 2010), standard configuration - so I cant really buy the "rare instances" explanation below. Good luck, I hope this helps you.

In rare instances, the combination of hardware and software may require a previous version be run.
1. Downloading the Mozy Client 1.x, here:
Mozy Home - Consumer
http://mozy.com/downloads/mozy-1_6_2_0.dmg
Mozy Pro. - Business
http://mozy.com/downloads/mozypro-1_6_2_0.dmg
You will use this download later - remember the location it was downloaded to.
2. Uninstalling Mozy 2.x - Do not save configuration or history if there is any indication of a corruption causing the need to reinstall.
3. Note: You will need to restart the computer to complete the uninstall
4. Install Mozy 1.x
5. Disable automatic upgrades in the options.

I had the same problem and realized that I installed the Mozy client on my Mac and tried to run it before I had upgraded my account to add a second computer (other one is a PC). I uninstalled the client and reinstalled from the same download as before and this time it worked. Not sure this is the case for anyone who posted but I wanted to point this out just in case. Hope it helps somebody.

I have the exact same problem - had a PC backup and just added a mac, now it says "not configured, please open up MozyHome and let us know what files to back up", though I configured for 178GB. I didn't delete my PC backup, thankfull, since I couldn't get the Mozy chat service rep to come to my place in The Queue. I wonder if the Mozyhome server expects this to be a PC as well since I just added the computer and I didn't say what platform it was ... would be pretty stupid, but possible. Would appreciate any guidance from moderators on this forum. Thanks.
This is making me consider other backup services. Funny how fickle users can be.

OK, my first message said I had exactly your problem. I just made mine work as follows:
1) Uninstall mozy - VERY IMPORTANT (I think) step is to uncheck the box that says "Save configuration files and settings" or something like that. I didn't copy it down word-for-word because I didn't think I would be posting a solution.
2) Restart your mac
3) Install
4) Configure
5) Back up now
6) Enjoy (hopefully)!
