Re: MozyHome for Mac v2.0.0.550 - open thread

I opened a ticket and asked about going back to 1.7. I got a pretty fast response with a link to http://home.mozypro.com/downloads/mozy-1_7_3_0-12328.dmg.

I downloaded and installed it. I would not work for me. I couldn't get the MozyHome app to open. Finally, I reinstalled 2.0. I don't like it but it seems to be uploading my files.

Here here. The system pref pane is too small to manage a lot of folders. And it's painful on my fairly large screen to have this tiny mozy window that can't be stretched. Maddening!

After about 24 hours of "backup", nothing had backed up and I couldn't figure out why or anything so I tried reverting to the old version.

I had to completely uninstall the new crappy version and UNCHECK "Keep configuration...".  Then I could re-install the good old version and after setting it up again, I was able to start a backup again.  I tried it several times with "Keep configuration..." but each time I couldn't open Mozy Home and see the window where I selected the files, saw the history, etc.  The only way I got that back was to erase EVERYTHING from the program and "start fresh".

Unfortunately, because I erased the log files it doesn't see that I had about 75% of my backup completed so it's "starting over".  However, I'm hoping it'll catch up to where it left off last by recognizing the files that are already uploaded to the server.  Just started it tonight (167 GB) so we'll see where it is tomorrow.

Wish me luck and good luck to you too!

Re: MozyHome for Mac v2.0.0.550 - open thread

What I am experiencing is the inability to select files or folders for back-up.

In the systems preference screen/files and Folders tab, I try to select various folders which previously were in my back-up set. It will not allow me to select.

I selected to back-up the entire computer and although it registers with a green icon, over half of the files and folders in the sub-folders are still not selected.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I did open a support ticket last night so will see what they say.

Re: MozyHome for Mac v2.0.0.550 - open thread

I've seen a number of posts here where folks are at 2.0 and wanting to roll back to 1.x...  Well, for those who might want to roll back to 1.7.3 as I did a few weeks ago, you might want to read my post on that topic,

http://community.mozy.com/t5/Mozy-for-Mac/Beware-if-you-try-the-new-Mac-Beta-2-0-and-later-want-to-r...

It took me five days and many Mozy chat sessions to clean up the mess that occurred when going back from 2.0 to 1.7.3..  Read the above linked post first if you choose to make the move back to 1.7.3...  I never used 1.8.x so I can't say if going back to that version had the same issues...

I saw not much that was to like when I looked at 2.0 when it was in Beta and reading all that is in this thread, it still doesn't look like it was really ready to be released...  I intend to stay at 1.7.3 until Mozy releases a version that is reasonably well received... And I can only hope they will choose to continue to support 1.7.3 until that time...

Re: MozyHome for Mac v2.0.0.550 - open thread

Update:

We will officially be releasing the 2.0.1 client today once it clears through the remaining test cycle.

This client version has several fixes included that will address the following bugs:

1. Scanning files icon spins forever
2. System preferences hangs/crashes
3. Memory leak if system preferences remains open during a backup
4. Client crashing during a backup
5. Client stalls during backups at Registering for Events

There is another issue that has not been resolved in this release:

a. Background service for MozyHome is not running

A workaround to this exists and is as follows:
navigate to /Library/Caches/MozyHome/ and delete cache.db and cache.db-journal files if they both exist
A restart of the computer to for the change to take effect may be necessary.

If you are still having any issues, please open a support case with us if you haven't already done so:

http://mozy.force.com/support/mozyKnowledgeWidget?DocId=79093

We will post a link to the new client here later today once we've officially released it.

We do apologize for any issues you've had with the 2.0 client and are working to resolve any outstanding issues as quickly as possible.

If a response has resolved your issue, please mark it as a solution to help the Mozy community.

Re: MozyHome for Mac v2.0.0.550 - open thread

As much as we all dream of bug free code, it is just that!

Glad to see that Mozy is on top of the Mac version updates.  Not too bad a turnaround time from release of v2 to patches...
