Hello - is it possible to password protect the MozyHome Preferences on Mac? There is such a check box in the Win7 version. (I want my household computers to backup to Mozy, but I don't want other users to be able to change the settings.)

Hi kswiss, 

On the Mac, if you open the Mozy Preferences screen and look in the "Summary" section, you'll see the buttons "Backup Now", "Restore Files", "History", etc.  Down in the lower left you'll see a padlock. There is some text beside it that says "Click here to prevent further changes". It defaults to look like it's open. If you click on it, it will close, at that point the preferences will be locked and you'll not be able to change any of the settings until you click on the padlock again and supply the admin password.

No, that doesn't do what I want. The Mac OS padlock is unlocked by any admin user on the computer. I am looking for something different. I am looking for something like what is offered in the Mozy control panel on Win7, which has a distinct check box to require the *Mozy*account*holder's* credentials in order to change the Mozy backup settings. That way, everybody in my household can restore their files using Mozy, but only the account holder (I) can change the backup settings.

(Mac OS Mozy does require the account holder's credentials to restore files, but it is appropriate to store and use those credentials solely for that purpose.)

(For better or worse some people in my household have local admin rights to their computers. There are other legitimate needs for these rights, and I don't want to have to revoke them just to limit their ability to change Mozy settings.)

I will get this entered as an enhancement request for you as we do not have a way to require username and password when opening the Mozy preferences.
