Stash files not uploading after edit

I have some text files that I edit on my Android phone. I know the changes are saved locally because changes persist until I open the file again and Stash knows the local file is different from the online version, but my local copy is never getting uploaded. Any changes I make on my Android are stuck there.

Re: Stash files not uploading after edit

AgentP:

At this time, the Mozy app cannot synchronize local files with Stash. It can only upload photos and videos. We do aim to support something similar to what you describe, in a series of progressive steps over several releases. For example, in the next release of the app, we plan to add the capability to manually upload any type of file (rather than just photos & videos). It won't be as automatic as you describe, but it will provide the capability to send updated files back to you Stash by selecting them and uploading.

Re: Stash files not uploading after edit

I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing a setting and that it wasn't a bug. I can live with it being a manual process to upload changes, but until I can do that, I can't get away from Dropbox.

Aside from the file modification thing, Stash is looking great to me.

Re: Stash files not uploading after edit

To the Mozy support team...  Thank You!

It's incredibly refreshing to see a company say - the software doesn't do that yet.  It's also great to hear information in the support chat windows indicating where some of the features are going to be added!

I have been using Mozy for some time, and I'm now adding a tablet and more capable phone to my systems and I'm really looking forward to the ability to have all these devices keep their data in sync through the Stash interface

If you're intersted in use cases, I'd be happy to provide some.

My primary use case - I have a more powerful laptop that I use in the office and at home, but that I find to be too heavy for use at conferences.  I carry my phone with me everywhere and often find that someone contacts me during the weekend, out of working hours, or when I'm on the road.  I'd like to be able to respond to their requests immediately so that whatever the task, it's done.  With Mozy, there's a Stash for that.

However, I also work on the road and would really like the ability to work on the tablet (yes, I also have a keyboard for it, so I can actually do real work :-) and have that work re-synch with my computer and phone.  This lets me use any device to work anywhere knowing that I'll be up-to-date when I move onto my other devices...

Not sure if that's the basic use case other's are looking for, but that's what I'd like to see.

Will be great to see the upload features that's been discussed available for Android.  I'll be exstatic when this process is automated so when the file is saved, it's sync'd to stash...

Re: Stash files not uploading after edit

Can we have an update on when this functionality will make it into Stash?

Re: Stash files not uploading after edit

Hey, AgentP:

The thread has gone a few directions since it started, so I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I'll give some details.

You can now upload any file type to your Stash on both Android and iOS. The app still does not provide a way to select a specific folder for the upload--all uploads go to a 'Mobile Uploads' folder. It also does not provide an option to overwrite an existing file. Instead it renames the file. Both of these issues are on the docket to fix. Overwrite will come first, in an update planned for late August. I hope to get the selector added in the subsequent release.

Re: Stash files not uploading after edit

Wow, this seems like a pretty basic function for Stash to have. Has this issue not been resolved yet? What this means, if I am reading this right, is that it is more or less worthless for me to modify documents in my Android device because the changes will not be uploaded to my Stash folder. Maybe I am thinking of it wrong, but this really makes Stash a great deal less useful than it might be.
