App does not upload to stash on HTC Rezound

I own an HTC Rezound, Verizon Wireless carrier, unlimited data plan, 4G LTE connection.  I have used the phone for several months and the phone is in good working condition and most apps work correct.  I do not root phones.

I am having a problem with the Mozy app for Android.  I can easily see all the files already uploaded to my backup as well as the stash.  Any files already uploaded via stash are visible on both my phone and PC. So that part works correctly.  (I do not have the "Automatic Photo Upload" option checked.)

However, when I try to manually upload pictures on my Rezound from my Gallery app by sharing, it only works intermittently.  Sometimes it works great, on both 4G and Wifi.  Other times it does not upload via any connection.  When I go to options and look at "Upload Status", it just sits there showing me 10 Files Pending.  It has said that for the last 2 days.  Rebooting the phone does not fix this.  Switching to wifi does not fix.  Turning on syncing does not fix.  Logging out and relogging back into the Mozy app does not resolve it.    This problem occurs whether I share each picture individually or as a group of several pictures at a time.  I can share those pictures via SMS and Gmail, so the Gallery app and Sharing are working correctly elsewhere.  The problem seems to be isolated to the Mozy app.

This stash upload problem has occurred intermittently ever since stash was available.  It has never worked correctly 100% of the time.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it will work and when it will not.  On one occasion, the pics I tried to upload eventually uploaded several days later.

Thank you very much for the thorough write up on this. Since adding support for the Stash beta to the Mozy app, we have received several reports of issues with the uploader on Android. We have a plan for how to improve it, but it will likely be a few months before we can roll out an update that resolves it.

Hi derobake, thanks for the thorough report listing all the things you tried. We will have a fix for this (workaround for an Android issue) in our next release as Ted says, but meanwhile the manual workaround is to kill and restart the Mozy app. This does usually work for us, and is about the only thing you didn't try :smileysad:

Re: App does not upload to stash on HTC Rezound

Ok.  So I went into the Settings --->  Applications -->  Manage Applications.  I then chose the Mozy app and "Force Closed" it.  Then I went to my gallery and now I can upload to stash.  Thanks for the temporary workaround.

I have noticed that the problem seems to occur more often when batch uploading multiple files to Stash.  When selecting photos one at a time, and not letting more than 2 or 3 be in the upload que, it works better.  Although once it stops uploading, the only thing that gets it going again is a force close, or a hard reset of the phone.

I am at 93% capacity of my 125 gb limit and am considering purchasing more space once the Android app and Stash get all their issues ironed out.  I like the idea of combining my PC hardrive backup and a cloud-based uploading service into one.  Hopefully you can get the issue resolved before I reach my limit and am forced instead to buy a Dropbox paid account.  Dropbox is great and works wonderfully on my Android phone, but my free account is reaching its limit as well.  I would like to be able to upload as many pics and videos as I want.  It's the darn videos that are so constraining when it comes to size limits.

Thanks for replying to my issue.  I look forward to using your fine service for many years to come.  Being a recent victim of home water damage, I know first hand the need to have a remote backup service.  I have spent many hours and dollars getting my music collection into digital format.  Anything else that is damaged is relatively easy to replace (with an insurance check) but my digital music would be an ordeal to replace.
