Android Mozy SLOW on 3g - Suggest filter up front

Hi,

I was trying to use my Android MOZY to access a file I have at home over a 3g network, but it was VERY SLOW. Here's what I did:

* Start Mozy on my Android
* Pick documents
* Pick my machine
* See the "searching..." screen
.... wait while it's trying to download ALL my doc, ppt, etc. etc. files ....
... wait more ....
... keep waiting ....

If I could enter a filter to search for before it started trying to load everything then it would be MUCH more usable on a slow network. For example, I knew some of the document name -- instead of trying to get the list of ALL documents I have it could have just fetched the one item.

On my WiFi at home or another high speed connect (even 4g) it's a reasonable wait, but on 3g it's basically unusable.

Re: Android Mozy SLOW on 3g - Suggest filter up front

Yes the default home screen is a deliberately generic search, in fact it is intended as a "browse by file type" rather than a search. If you want to search by file name, specific extension etc, then we have retained the functionality to do that. Just switch to the "all files" screen (via the android menu), select your device and perform a search via the search box.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the All Files method is even worse -- the client tries to get the list of ALL files before letting me search.  Same problem, just with a larger initial download.

If I could enter the search criteria before it contacted the server (well, before it tried to download the list of filenames) or at least 'cancel' the initial load and get to the search box that way it would work, but there's no way I can find to "stop" the download of the list of files and still get to the criteria dialog.

Regards,

Glen

Oops.... I just checked on my phone app and I did see the "loading..." screen when I went into my computer with 'all files' mode, but didn't realize it would (fairly quickly) take me straight to the query screen with just "C" on it.   Thanks again for the reply!
