Backing Up Mac and Windows files concurrently.

I run Parallels on my Mac to create a partition so I can run Windows app's that are not available for a Mac.  Can Mozy back up both Windows and Mac files in the same back up session?

@jfairbai

Great question!

The main question would be if you have Mozy installed on the Mac and installed in the Windows as separate devices on your account. If so, that should not be a problem in that Parallels should be virtualizing the NIC for the Windows instance.

If you are seeing issues when running both concurrently, please let us know.

If you are backing up the Mac AND the Parallels from the Mac, then you may run into issues if Parallels is writing changes while the backup occurs.

Re: Backing Up Mac and Windows files concurrently.

@jfairbai,

To expand upon what @PTNubs said, while there are ways you can backup both your Mac and Windows sides of Parallels in the same backup session; we do not recommend it. It can run into issues, as Pete mentioned, and it's typically easier and more successful to back them up separately.

To back them up separately, we'd recommend that you set them up as two separate machines. Then, download and install the Mac backup software on your iOS side, and the Windows software on your Windows side. Each will run as their own separate machine, keeping the files separate and cleanly backed up.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
